Southern Recycling is supportive of new domestic and international legislation designed to raise industry standards and make the producers of waste responsible for the impacts they create for the environment and wider society.

US and European legislation on environmental issues, producer responsibility, import and export and trans-boundary shipments affecting the recycling industry is developing rapidly. International covenants are also increasing. At Southern Recycling we take a positive and responsible approach to compliance, with the aim of strengthening our position as a service provider as legislation converges from the local to the global scale.

When it comes to developing new legislation, our approach is straightforward: establish clear pragmatic standards that meet environmental goals without over-burdening industry, provide timely guidance and a realistic timetable for implementation and ensure the effective enforcement of regulations to ensure a level playing field and compliance.
